DPS Rotation & Cooldowns
This rotation guide provides a quick, basic understanding of which abilities to prioritize when playing a Windwalker Monk, along with additional details on important cooldowns at the bottom. Updated for the latest patch in World of Warcraft: The War Within (11.1).
Single Target
Ensure Heart Of The Jade Serpent is active before the encounter begins.
- Without active Heart Of The Jade Serpent
- Without active Heart Of The Jade Serpent
- With Pressure Points buff
- If < 5 Chi AND about to cap energy
- With two stacks of Dance Of Chi Ji buff
- At 20 Last Emperors Capacitor stacks
- Try not to overcap Teachings Of The Monastery stacks
- Try not to overcap Last Emperors Capacitor stacks
Maintain resource management by using Strike Of The Windlord and Celestial Conduit when available. Use Rising Sun Kick with Pressure Points buff, and manage Chi with Tiger Palm and Blackout Kick to prevent capping.
AoE
Use Storm, Earth, And Fire at the start of the fight.
- Without active Heart Of The Jade Serpent
- Without active Heart Of The Jade Serpent
- With two stacks of Dance Of Chi Ji buff
- If < 5 Chi AND about to cap energy
- At 20 Last Emperors Capacitor stacks
- Then Whirling Dragon Punch
- With Xuens Battlegear buff
- With two stacks of Blackout Kick!
- With Dance Of Chi Ji buff
For AoE, prioritize Strike Of The Windlord and Celestial Conduit without Heart Of The Jade Serpent. Use Spinning Crane Kick with Dance Of Chi Ji and manage Chi effectively.
Cooldowns
- Use at the start and with Fists Of Fury when available.
- Use when available.
- Use when the target is < 15% health.
Utilize Storm, Earth, And Fire and Invoke Xuen during burst phases, and save Touch Of Death for low-health targets.
