DPS Rotation & Cooldowns
This rotation guide provides a quick, basic understanding of which abilities to prioritize when playing a Windwalker Monk, along with additional details on important cooldowns at the bottom. Updated for the latest patch in World of Warcraft: The War Within (11.0.5).
Single Target
Ensure Dance Of Chi Ji is active before the encounter begins.
- If < 5 Chi and about to cap energy
- To avoid overcapping Chi
- With Dance Of Chi Ji buff
- Avoid overcapping Last Emperors Capacitor stacks
Maintain Chi and Energy balance, using Tiger Palm to prevent capping. Follow with Strike Of The Windlord, Whirling Dragon Punch, and Rising Sun Kick. Use Blackout Kick to manage Chi effectively.
AoE
Maintain Mark Of The Crane on multiple targets.
- If < 5 Chi and about to cap energy
- With Dance Of Chi Ji buff
- Avoid overcapping Last Emperors Capacitor stacks
- With Xuens Battlegear buff and 4 or fewer targets
For AoE, prioritize Tiger Palm to manage Chi, followed by Spinning Crane Kick with Dance Of Chi Ji. Use Rising Sun Kick and Whirling Dragon Punch as they become available.
Cooldowns
- Use at the start and with Fists Of Fury for maximum damage.
- Use when target is < 15% health.
Utilize Invoke Xuen for burst damage, Storm, Earth, And Fire for AoE, and Touch Of Death when the target is low on health.
